Kenwood Cove Aquatic Park in Salina is set to open for the 2021 season!
SalinaSync has learned directly from Jeffrey Hammond with Salina Parks & Recreation that the aquatic park will open on Saturday, May 29.
After being closed for the 2020 season, the 2021 season will look a little bit different when the gates open.
All patrons remember the 15 minute pool break. This year, the pool break will be extended. During this time, park staff will be cleaning the entire facility. This includes bathrooms, trash cans, and other high touch areas.
Masks will need to be worn for as long as the City mask ordinance is in place. This includes being worn by all patrons entering park, as well as those using the restroom, waiting in line for concessions, and exiting the park. It is unclear at this point what kind of park policy would be in effect in regards to mask wearing, once the City ordinance is lifted.
Hammond also informed SalinaSync that swimming lessons will be available. Sign up for lessons will begin on Monday, May 3. More lesson times are being added, in order for class sizes to be smaller.
Summer-long memberships are also able to be purchased. This can be done in the SP&R department of the City Building during normal business hours.
As for park capacity, there will be no COVID-19 related policy in place.
More information will be released at a later date. In the meantime, Kenwood Cove is hiring for this Summer. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
